1. What This Extension Does

BQ Schema Sidebar is a Chrome extension that lets you browse BigQuery table schemas, search columns, and view sample values — all within a Chrome sidebar panel. It connects to Google's BigQuery and Cloud Resource Manager APIs using your own Google account credentials.

2. Data We Access

The extension requests the following OAuth scopes:

• bigquery.readonly — to list datasets, tables, column schemas, and run sample value queries
• cloudplatformprojects.readonly — to list the GCP projects associated with your account

All access is read-only. The extension never creates, modifies, or deletes any data in BigQuery or GCP.

3. Data Storage

The following is stored locally in your browser only using Chrome's built-in storage API:

• Your OAuth access token (used to authenticate API requests; expires automatically)
• Your selected GCP project and dataset preferences
• Cached table schema metadata (kept for up to 1 hour to reduce API calls)
• Your GCP OAuth Client ID (used to authenticate with Google)

None of this data is transmitted to any server operated by the extension developer or any third party. It exists only in your local Chrome profile.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect analytics or usage statistics
• We do not track which tables or columns you view
• We do not log queries or sample values you retrieve
• We do not store or transmit your Google account details
• We have no backend server — there is no infrastructure receiving your data

5. Third-Party Services

The extension communicates directly with Google APIs:

• Google BigQuery API
• Google Cloud Resource Manager API
• Google OAuth 2.0 (for authentication)

Your use of these services is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Authentication

Authentication is handled via Google OAuth 2.0 using a GCP OAuth Client ID that you create and control. The extension never sees or stores your Google password. You can revoke access at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions or by clicking Sign out inside the extension.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension is intended for use by adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
